Financial Wellbeing
Identifying, Evaluating and Classifying Features for a Financial Management App using the Kano Model (n=2,000)
Business Context
A leading European fintech needed to develop a financial management product for users struggling with their financial situation. The goal: identify which product features would actually improve financial wellbeing — and which ones to build first.
Research & Ideation
Conducted a competitive analysis of existing finance apps to identify market gaps. Then facilitated a cross-functional ideation workshop, generating 38 potential features — narrowed down to 17 based on technical feasibility and estimated user value.
Survey Design
Designed a standardized questionnaire using the Kano Model — a bipolar method that measures both functional and dysfunctional user reactions to each feature. Coordinated with an external research agency for programming, hosting, and panel recruitment.
Data Collection
Fielded the survey across a representative sample of n=2,000 participants. Collected feature preferences alongside socio-demographic data to enable segmented analysis across meaningful user subgroups.
Analysis & Classification
Processed raw data using Kano evaluation rules — classifying each feature as a must-have, performance driver, delighter, or indifferent. Calculated satisfaction and dissatisfaction coefficients to quantify the real impact of each feature on user perception.
Outcome & Recommendations
Delivered a prioritized feature roadmap for the MVP — backed by data across the full sample and key user segments. Identified which features to build first, which to deprioritize, and which to avoid entirely. Results directly informed product strategy and development planning.
